Budapest Restaurant

Our Story
A Taste of Hungary in Toronto
Budapest Restaurant was founded by Edit Csoma and her wife, Loriemhe Ditchon, who shared a dream of bringing the flavours and traditions of Hungarian cuisine to Toronto. Inspired by the welcoming spirit of Hungarian hospitality, they set out to create a place where people could experience authentic Hungarian food in a warm and friendly setting. Their vision was simple: serve traditional recipes prepared with care and create a restaurant where every guest feels like they are sitting at a family table.

The restaurant first opened in Toronto’s east end, quickly becoming a beloved spot for those seeking classic Hungarian comfort food. Over time, the restaurant grew into a local favourite, known for generous portions, traditional dishes, and homemade desserts. Eventually the restaurant moved to its current home at 2183 Danforth Avenue, in Toronto’s Upper Beaches area, where it continues to welcome guests from across the city and beyond.

Today, Budapest Restaurant remains dedicated to sharing the rich culinary heritage of Hungary. From paprika-rich gulyás and golden schnitzels to cabbage rolls and handcrafted desserts, the menu reflects recipes that have been part of Hungarian kitchens for generations. What began as a small dream has grown into a gathering place where guests can enjoy authentic flavours, warm hospitality, and a little taste of Hungary in the heart of Toronto.
